Pegaso Flies Into 2026 as the Fourth Team on the Grid

01.01.2026 - Pegaso, Spain's Formula One Team, is about to start its seventh year in My Racing Career in a position it has never been in before. With a revitalised economy, thanks in large part to revenues that have grown by more than 40% over the last ten seasons, the Flying Horse can now afford to invest substantially in the current season's car or successfully combine two highly challenging projects, such as the chassis and gearbox.

None of this would have been possible without a risky gamble on the eve of the current engine regulations. While other teams were preparing for Season 61, the Pegaso Management Board decided to rush the development of its Comet engine and take a chance on returning in Season 60. The result? Their best position ever in the Constructors' Championship (4th with 281 points), their second victory taken by Alberto Puig and a 100-point increase over their rating at the end of Season 57, after which they began developing the new engine.



Although the following two seasons (61 and 62) proved more challenging due to increased competition, Pegaso managed to maintain a stable sixth place, fighting for fifth until the final race in both cases and securing several podium finishes. However, both the team manager and the drivers were left with mixed feelings upon seeing the final results.

And that is how an ambitious change in development philosophy (which will not be revealed) has made things immensely easier. If that fourth-place finish in season 60 was a fluke, the one in season 63 has been completely real. With Jan Bonmatí and Remco Raveel behind the wheel of the 263/3, Pegaso finished 64 points ahead of Senna and 82 ahead of Ferrari, its historic rival.



This growth hasn't gone unnoticed in the racing world. In Season 64, Pegaso will have its most prestigious line-up to date, consisting of franchise driver Raveel and rookie Miłodziad Dobrychłop, whose manager is seeking a new challenge in Formula 1, having won three world championships (so far) with previous driver Gracjan Wozipiwo.



When asked about all of the above, these were the words of nicorz, team manager of the Escudería:

"I prefer to set only long-term expectations, such as being a 'top 4' team under these regulations. We take each season one day at a time, especially when we not only have to develop next year's car but also realise that fighting for points, as before, is not the same as fighting for a podium finish, as now.

Without a doubt, the results on the track are reflecting the effort we have been putting in for more than two years. But although it may sound like 'people pleaser', the growth of our fan base is playing a very important role in all this. In five seasons, we have doubled our number of fans and, in absolute terms, we are by far the most supported team in Formula One. This makes it much easier to carry out initiatives such as the Driver Development Programme, which already has more than 80 members from all over the world."

The new season will begin this afternoon on the first day of the year, when the lights go out at the starting grid in Melbourne. The two Pegaso 264/4 cars will start in seventh and ninth place, with the sole aim of continuing to move forward.
