Pokal narodov: Konec slovenske dominacije

V sezoni 66 je Slovenija znova osvojila naslov Pokala narodov in tako nadaljevala izjemno obdobje uspehov. V zadnjih 24 sezonah je Slovenija kar 22-krat končala na prvem mestu, le v sezonah 58 in 59 pa je morala priznati premoč Poljakom. Tudi aktualna sezona je bila za Slovenijo zelo uspešna. Reprezentanca je zbrala 4285 točk, 45 zmag, 70 uvrstitev na stopničke, 86 uvrstitev med najboljših pet in kar 100 uvrstitev med najboljših deset. Toda z zaključkom sezone se za Slovenijo začenja novo obdobje. Glavni razlog za precej bolj negotov pogled v prihodnost je vse manjša slovenska skupnost. Trenutno imamo aktivnih le še devet managerjev, kar močno omejuje možnosti za sestavo konkurenčne ekipe. Ob zaključku lanske sezone je igro zapustil še en slovenski manager, s čimer se je položaj še dodatno poslabšal. Odsotnost Hitrega Joža II bo močno vplivala tudi na načrte za prihodnje sezone. V sezoni 67 bodo slovenske barve v Pokalu narodov tako zastopali Andrej Vidmar in Mitja Prevodnik med elito, Sara Repnik v kategoriji U25 ter Peter Klepec in Jaka Prevodnik v kategoriji U21. Ekipa trenutno še išče rešitev za enega U25 dirkača. V kolikor ne najdemo managerja, ki bi ustvaril dirkača za kategorijo U25, nas bo moral v tej kategoriji zastopati 20-letni Erik Rosberg II. Ekipa bo ostala nespremenjena tudi v sezoni 68, če seveda ne bodo sledili novi šoki. Pred odhodom Hitrega Joža II so bili slovenski cilji precej bolj ambiciozni. V sezoni 67 je bil cilj uvrstitev med najboljših 10, za sezono 68 uvrstitev med najboljših 5, v sezoni 69 pa bi se Slovenija lahko ponovno vmešala tudi v boj za naslov, čeprav bi bila uvrstitev med najboljše tri bolj realen cilj. Po njegovem odhodu pa so se načrti bistveno spremenili. Kaj lahko dosežemo s to ekipo, bo veliko odvisno predvsem od tega, kako močne bodo ostale ekipe in kako nam bo uspelo zapolniti U25 vrzel. Več bo znano že po prvih nekaj krogih nove sezone, ko bo mogoče bolje oceniti razmerje moči med reprezentancami. Poleg rezultatov v naslednjih sezonah bo za Slovenijo še pomembnejše vprašanje, kako naprej. V prihodnjih dveh sezonah bo treba ustvariti novega specialista za U21, vendar so možnosti za to trenutno zelo omejene. Slovenija ima trenutno samo dva managerja, ki imata po enega dirkača. Brez novih aktivnih managerjev bo zato zelo težko ponoviti uspehe iz preteklih sezon. Obdobja slovenske dominacije je tako konec. Zdaj se začenja novo poglavje – boj, kako Slovenijo kljub vse manjši skupnosti ohraniti med najboljšimi reprezentancami Pokala narodov in mogoče še kdaj stopiti na vrh.
