Jorge Ibáñez en las Rookie Series

Está temporada ha visto el debut de Jorge Ibáñez en monoplazas, concretamente ha hecho su debut en las Rookie Series, compitiendo contra el resto de las grandes promesas del automovilismo finalizando en 9ª posición. Le temporada comenzó muy bien, con 3 victorias en las 4 primeras carreras en Phillip Island y Piestany. Siguió en valleluenga con un 3er y 4º puesto lo que lo afianzó en las posiciones de cabeza de la serie. A continuación viajó al circuito de casa, Barcelona pero tras una qualy con muchos errores, quedó condenado a una posición fuera del top10 en ambas carreras. Pareció recuperarse en Hungaroring, con una P2 en el sprint y con su cuarta y a la postre última victoria en la feature race. El golpe de realidad llegó la semana siguiente en Mugello, con sendas P8 en ambas carreras, siguiendo la temporada en Watkins Glen terminando octavo y sexto en las carreras. Volvió a Italia, a Pergusa concretamente, y una quinta posición en el sprint hacía pensar en un posible podio el sábado, pero todo se desvaneció tras un toque en la vuelta 6 que le llevó a su primer DNF de la temporada. Finalmente, la temporada se cerraba para él en Korea, y con una mala qualy, y un DNF en el sprint, finalizando 19 en la carrera larga, Jorge ha acabado noveno en la serie con un total de 4 victorias, 7 podios, 9 top5, y 13 top10 además de 2 poles, 4 vueltas rápidas y 3 más vueltas lideradas con solo 2 DNF en 18 carreras, ya que se inscribió la segunda semana de la serie. El año que viene ascenderá a una F4, y está decidiendo si correrá en casa, la F4 española, o, como todo apunta, irá a la F4 de centro Europa, conocida previamente como F4 checoslovaca. |
