2013 Racing Season part 1 (startup this year)

27.12.2013 - 2013 was a great year full of great races, great stars and great champions. This is part one of a recap along 2013´s racing season. It all began on the 5th of January, the day Dakar started. It saw that Volkswagen was no longer competing in Dakar and that the privateers finnaly could win this prestigues race. Zero was Robby Gordon who suffered a major time penalty in the first stage after having driven only a few miles. After that came the 24 Hours of Dubai. A race won by Black Falcon (Schwarzer Falke) with Sean Edwards(RIP) and Jeroen Bleekemolen onboard. After Dubai, racing went on in Daytona for the 24 Hours of Daytona, although I didn´t really follow the race, I know it was still exciting till the very last minutes. After the 24 Hours of Daytona came the Daytona 500, THE GREAT AMERICAN RACE, that´s how it´s called in the USA. It was won by Jimmie Johnson who is my personal favorite. In a Nationwide series race in advance of the 500, Kyle Larson flipped his car into the fence on the last lap and 33 spectators were injured. After the 500, the Formula 1 season got underway. A short recap of this years F1 season for the ones who haven´t followed it this year, Vettel, Vettel, Vettel and ones again Vettel... Also the GP2 and GP3 season went underway in April and it was thrilling, Many crashes and by far the best close racing in Europe I´ve seen in years, it was even more exciting then Formula 1 itself. Then the WEC en ELMS kicked off in Silverstone, a great discipline to watch, endurance racing stays my favorite. Also the ALMS season kicked off in Sebring, it was Audi´s final Sebring 12 hours ever, due to the mix of Grand Am and ALMS in 2014, LMP1´s are not allowed next year which is a big shame though.
