F3 Masters Season 33 Full Review

28.09.2019 - Hey guys, sorry if it's taken so long to do this but I've still been busy and I guess it never stops huh but anyways I'm back to tell you first of all, a Season 34 is happening but I will need to get the funds together so if you got some spare coins to lend me, I will be happy and grateful for it so anyway let's recap on what happened over the course of the season.

We started again from Pau and hometown girl Chloe de St. Germain kickstarted her championship campaign infront of her main rival, our first ever reigning champion Michael Damon Novikov looking to hold onto his crown, the gap between their laps was as tight as ever and once the race got underway, they were both fighting for position all lap, keeping close to eachother before Novikov found his way past and peformed a last minute upset, Szilvester Szalonna kept himself close in the battle to take the podium while Bartolomeu Jarbas almost found his way past the two with the undercut until he crashed out. However in the Feature Race, it was Szalonna's turn to fight Novikov and he too he failed to get the win, was about a tenth short in the end but nonetheless it was a great battle to watch, of course, Novikov might've dominated when it came to the points but with how close the drivers are, I wouldn't call it dominance just yet. Normal service resumed in the Monaco Sprint Race for Novikov until the Feature Race where strategy and safety car timing caught out a fair amount of people which allowed Szalonna to win, Jarbas up to 2nd to start a run of 6 podiums, Novikov took 3rd but still kept his lead in the championship and pulled away from St. Germain.
So here comes the role reversal, Novikov has an off weekend at Zandvoort, qualifying no better than 6th and struggled to come back in the races, while in the other hand, St. Germain dominated both races but Novikov could only finish 8th and 9th and lost the hand in the championship, Spa could only get worse too, playing second fiddle in both races, almost got there in the monsoon race, coming out ontop of the ontrack duel before getting undercut. St. Germain leads by 19 points, Szalonna not too far behind either, another win for her might seal her the championship, put herself on pole infront of Szalonna and Novikov until a crash on her part, sent Novikov out infront and allowed him to take his 4th win of the season and his most crucial one, he's now ahead of her by 6 points, Szalonna took the win of the Feature Race but a bring it home drive for Novikov behind was enough for him to successfully defend his title while St. Germain could only come back to 10th.

Now for the driver review, I will give a driver a rating out of 10 for their season, last time I did letter, I'm doing something different again.

Champion. Michael Damon Novikov, 4 wins, 191 points
Apart from the blunder at Zandvoort, what wrong as he done all season? Tell me. He won the first 3 races in spectular and different fashions, he kept his head down and got on with it, no wonder he's a 2 time F3 Master. Can't say more.
Rating: 9.5/10

2. Szilvester Szalonna, 2 wins, 175 points
Consistency has been key, just watch back and see what happens but unforunately for him, Novikov racked up the finishes like he did so it kind of backfired a bit. But he got 8 podiums out of the 10 races with 2 wins of course and he was able to stay in the title fight until the end.
Oh yeah, he's manage to pip St. Germain to 2nd to who we're going to go on about next.
Rating: 9/10

3. Chloe de St. Germain, 4 wins, 171 points
I thought she had the title in the bag after her pole position at Macau but my thoughts became a curse as she crashed out on Lap 13 of the Sprint Race.
But she was outright the fastest driver, qualified on top for the 3 out of 5 races, won both Zandvoort and Spa races.
Rating: 9/10

4. Bartolomeu Jarbas, 119 points
He's been up there for the race win but he hasn't been able to get it but he racked up the podiums, 6 in a row which went from Monaco Feature to Macau Sprint, did match what Szalonna did in the first 6 races but nonetheless the young Portoguese has been solid and consistent as always.
Rating: 8.5/10

5. David Nalbandian, 101 points
He's been the best of the rest this season, not fighting for race wins but been fighting for podiums at least since you know how quick the top 4 are, next season is going to be his time to shine if he can put up a fight to St. Germain, just watch.
Rating: 8/10

6. Aleksantari Kokkonen, U24 champion, 73 points
He did have a bit of a rocky start to the season but he's been able to pick himself back up and do enough to become the U24 champion.
Rating: 8/10

7. Tomek Pasek, 69 points
Had a bit of a shaky start too but since he's been scoring solid results here and there, and then he got a podium at Macau Feature, the only one outside the top 4 to score a podium.
Rating: 8/10

8. Sasu Suikkanen, 62 points
Been a good season for the Finnish driver, hopefully he can build it up to next season.
Rating: 7/10

9. John Lawley, 62 points
Been consistent but was unforunately unable to redo his Monaco masterclass success.
Rating: 6.5/10

10. Paul Carlotti, 57 points
Been a good season, racking up the point finishes and he also got mega results at Spa and Macau.
Rating: 7/10

11. Alan Kulwicki, 49 points
He started the season perfectly but then he faded to obscurity.
Rating: 6/10

12. Vadim Mateyev, 49 points
He's been alright in the Sprint Races but he needs to sort himself out in the Feature Races because that's where it all went wrong for him.
Rating: 6.5/10

13. Joe Paulposichon, 46 points
One of the youngest in the U24 championship and he led it briefly before finishing in the top 5 in the category, not a bad season's work, also shoutout for that fabulous Monaco drive, how could I forget that?
Rating: 7.25/10

14. Bernando Reckziegel, 42 points
Been a quiet season for him. Had a great start before you know.
Rating: 6.5/10

15. James Jesse Fisichella, 34 points
Didn't do too bad in his first time in the competition.
Rating: 6.75/10

16. Enrico Nuvolari, 24 points
Quiet but had some good races there and there.
Rating: 6/10

17. Ravek Svoboda, 15 points
Was quite good over a lap but converting it over a race was a bit of a problem.
Rating: 5.75/10

18. Richard Nebesky, 15 points
A couple of errors held him back.
Rating: 5.5/10

19. Ema Nishino, 12 points
Managed to finish in the points and finish every race this season, big improvements showing.
Rating: 6/10

20. Arkadiusz Wrona II, U22 champion, 7 points
His consistency throughout the season made sure he was the U22 champion and he's had some brilliant drives in the bag too, couldn't have gotten to anyone else.
Rating: 7/10

21. Linus Torvalds, 7 points
He was fast enough to fight for the title, but he had some slumps after a good result or two and also found the wall quite often.
Rating: 6/10

22. Paulo Ricardo-Mentho, 6 points
Would've been a fine season work if he hadn't had that slight damping end to the season.
Rating: 5.5/10

23. Adam Giza, 4 points
Not a bad season, was a underdog for that U22 championship.
Rating: 6/10

24. Philip Goldberg III; 3 points
Good result at Monaco, stayed out of trouble to just rack up the finishes
Rating: 5.5/10

25. Csabi Szasz, 3 points
No points in the U24 championship other than he's been able to score some overall points but damn, he really needs to pick himself up.
Rating: 5/10

26. Alexey Miller Jr, 2 points
We're going to be hearing about him for a while, been consistently the top guy in the U20 class (even tho it's not an actual category but look at the rising talents there), backed it up with a solid points finish in the torrenrous conditions at Spa.
Rating: 6.5/10

27. Leo Halle, 1 point
Imagine scoring 1 overall point but still fight in the U22 championship until the end, that dreadful Macau meeting was what ended his hopes all together.
Rating: 5.5/10

28. Tommy Smets, 1 point
Managed to score a home point.
Rating: 5/10

29. Manuel Vicente
Deserved to score a points finish but nonetheless he just focused on consistency and racking up the finishes.
Rating: 5.5/10

30. Nadia Portocarrero
She had troubles in qualifying and an incident at Zandvoort when she started in the points paying positions but it didn't stop her from reaching the chequered flag every race, been an unlucky one for her.
Rating: 4.5/10

31. Tex Cobb II
Not a bad season, had a good meeting at Zandvoort tho. Improvements showing.
Rating: 5/10

32. Milan Zakrajsek jr., U19 champion
Obliberated the U19 category, had some great showing at Zandvoort and Spa, beating some of the older runners too.
Rating: 6/10

33. Bruno Dacosta
Had too many DNFs this season.
Rating: 4/10

34. Mikolaj Muszynski
Did expect a bit better from him this season.
Rating: 4.5/10

35. Adolf Vermonisky
Wasn't mentally ready for this, one of the oldest drivers in the field and he struggled to get out of the top 20, ouch.
Rating: 2.5/10

36. Jules Alesi
He's getting there.
Rating: 3.5/10

37. Alberto Latorre
No comment.
Rating: 3.5/10

38. Gabriell Kosztur
Crashed out of last in the first 3 races before he saw the chequered flag every race.
Rating: 3/10

39. Gerd Berger Jr.
Hasn't done too bad and has been the best of the newcomers.
Rating: 3.5/10

40. Ottavaiano Augusto
Only driver to not get out of the Top 30 but he's new so he's excused
Rating: 3/10
