Spike Lundberg celebrates NASC Gold Cup
14.03.2026
-
HOMESTEAD, Florida — Spike Lundberg inhaled a deep breath upon climbing out of his car as it sat parked on the start/finish line at Homestead Miami Speedway. He nearly held his breath for the final 30 laps of the NASC Gold Cup series finale before he took the checkered flag and won the Season 64 Championship.“This moment, this win, this championship is everything I have ever wanted for my whole life,” Lundberg said. “I am so happy right now.” The American driver of the No. 22 McDonald’s Ford Mustang won five of the final six races in the Gold Cup season. Only a fuel mileage miscalculation at Talladega in kept him from winning the Alabama 500 and running the table. Lundberg’s wins at Las Vegas, the Charlotte Roval, Phoenix, Martinsville and Homestead propelled him to the first Gold Cup of his storied stock car career. “There were times I didn’t think this would ever happen, and I questioned whether or not I even belonged in the Gold Cup Series,” Lundberg said. “I have a great group of men and women who believe in me, and we stayed the course. We didn’t give up. We ran the races and now we are champions.” Lundberg thanked F1 Escuderia Pegaso team principal NicoRZ, former Mercedes Petronas team principal Sir Erik Salama and his 54 North club mate Daniel Esteban for their encouragement throughout his career. He also praised the efforts from several of his rivals in Gold Cup for making the 64th season difficult to the end. “I have been going against several of these guys for 10 or more seasons now, all the way back to Silver Cup and some beyond that,” Lundberg said. “As much as we have raced hard and even crashed out over the years, I like all of those guys. Several of them have already said congratulations or texted me. It just shows the power and the brotherhood of the Gold Cup.” Belgian Filip Keteeler was Lundberg’s crew chief for the championship season. Longtime pit crew member Gretar Eliasson was the first man from the No. 22 team to sprint to the car and hug the driver on the front stretch at Homestead. Lundberg’s resume now includes a Gold Cup, two Silver Cups and one NASC Trucks championship, making him one of the most successful points racers in American stock car racing’s top three series. Lundberg, 33, celebrated the win alongside his parents and with his wife, Katja Lundberg. The driver has lived a relatively quiet personal life away from the track after his romance with his now-spouse drew international media attention during Lundberg’s championship season in the Truck Series.

F1 Season 65 Review: Winners and Disappointments
25.05.2026
-
<div align="justify&... this season review, “Winners” are drivers and teams who, in my opinion, exceeded expectations, while “Disappointments” are those who underperformed relative to their budget, potential, or pre-season projections. These labels should not be interpreted as definitive judgments on a driver’s or team’s overall quality, talent, or long-term ability. A “Disappointment” designation can simply reflect a difficult stretch of results caused by mistakes, mechanical failures, ...
