El rugido de los motores vuelve a sentirse en el paddock. Entre mecánicos, ingenieros y pilotos que se preparan para una nueva temporada, aparece un nombre que comienza a abrirse camino en el automovilismo chileno: Gabriel Zúñiga, piloto de 18 años que dará el salto a la Rookie Series con la ilusión de seguir construyendo su carrera y acercarse cada vez más al alto rendimiento.
Con la determinación propia de quien sabe que cada vuelta cuenta, Gabriel enfrenta este nuevo desafío como una oportunidad para aprender, crecer y demostrar su potencial frente a algunos de los talentos emergentes más prometedores de la categoría.
Gabriel, ¿qué significa para ti llegar a la Rookie Series?
Es una oportunidad enorme. Llevo tiempo preparándome para dar este paso y poder competir en una categoría tan competitiva me llena de motivación. Sé que habrá pilotos con mucha calidad, pero precisamente eso es lo que busco: exigirme al máximo y aprender en cada carrera.
¿Cómo te has preparado para afrontar este desafío?
He trabajado mucho tanto dentro como fuera de la pista. La preparación física, las horas de simulador y el análisis de datos son fundamentales hoy en día. Quiero llegar lo mejor preparado posible para aprovechar cada oportunidad que se presente durante la temporada.
Con solo 18 años, ¿qué expectativas tienes para este campeonato?
Mi principal objetivo es aprender y adaptarme rápidamente. Obviamente todos queremos ganar carreras y conseguir buenos resultados, pero también entiendo que esto es parte de un proceso. Si logro evolucionar como piloto y estar peleando adelante, sentiré que vamos por el camino correcto.
¿Dónde te gustaría llegar a corto plazo dentro del automovilismo?
A corto plazo me gustaría seguir creciendo hasta poder competir en el TCR. Es una categoría muy profesional, con autos exigentes y un nivel de pilotos muy alto. Creo que sería un paso importante en mi desarrollo y una gran plataforma para seguir construyendo mi carrera deportiva.
¿Qué es lo que más te atrae del TCR?
La competitividad. Son carreras muy intensas y con fabricantes importantes involucrados. Es una categoría reconocida internacionalmente y creo que cualquier piloto joven que quiera progresar sueña con llegar a competir ahí y demostrar de qué está hecho.
¿Qué mensaje le gustaría entregar a quienes seguirán tu temporada?
Que voy a dar el máximo en cada carrera. Estoy muy agradecido por el apoyo que he recibido y espero representar de la mejor manera posible a quienes creen en mí. Esto recién comienza y tengo muchas ganas de demostrar lo que puedo hacer en la pista.
Mientras los equipos ultiman detalles en los boxes y los motores comienzan a cobrar vida, Gabriel Zúñiga mantiene la concentración en el siguiente desafío. Con apenas 18 años, su camino en el automovilismo recién empieza, pero la dirección está clara.
La Rookie Series es el punto de partida.
El objetivo ya está puesto en el siguiente escalón: el TCR.
